  1. Start the VMWare Tools Installation:
    Virtual Machine > Install VMWare Tools
    Before to Start the Installation you Need to have the CDRom Unmounted...If Not the Window Containing the Tools will Not Pop-Up. If you Need to Unmount/Eject the CDRom go to Places, Open a Window and Eject the CDRom.
  2. Open File-Manager Double-Click on VMWare-Tools Archive into the VMWare-Tools CD

    For Xfce & Lxde instead Right-Click > Open with XArchiver.

  3. Click on Extract and Decompress into the /tmp Folder

  4. To Open a Terminal Window:
    • Gnome:
      Accessories >> Root Terminal
    • KDE:
      Applications >> System >> Terminal
  5. Installing the Required gcc & Kernel Headers: After you follow to Find and Install needed Kernel's Headers. Find Headers:
    apt-get install gcc linux-headers-$(uname -r)

    In Case you Cannot Find/Install the Kernel Headers Look:

    Before starting to install check than kernel's headers are in the right location:
    ls /usr/src/linux-headers-$(uname -r)
    This should give you an input like this below:
    arch  include  Makefile  Module.symvers  scripts
    Now your system should be Ready for VMware Tools installation.
  6. VMWare Tools Installation:
    • Access the Target Directory
      cd /tmp/vmware*
    • To Get Enabled the Shared Folders Apply Patch:

      VMWare-Tools Patch
    • Execute Installation Script
